What about embracing virtualization?
Internally Mitrais chose to migrate its own infrastructure to
virtualization following Microsoft’s public release of Hyper-V. Our
proprietary hospital system, Mitrais MMS Suite, runs on top of a
Hyper-V environment which has allowed our staff to gain valuable experience
deploying a production environment using virtualization technologies.
Additionally, we have even designed our IT disaster recovery procedures
around Hyper-V virtualization to ensure quick recovery in the event of
disaster. This recovery is made possible with Microsoft’s latest backup
solution, Data Protection Manager, which implements a Disk-to-Disk-to-Tape
(D2D2T) solution. These technologies enable us to take rapid snapshots on
hourly basis for data protection and to prevent data loss in the event of a
system failure.
With more than 10 years experience under our belt managing Microsoft
Exchange-based email infrastructure, we have integrated Exchange and open
source mail security appliances to work in harmony, ensuring spam and
malware never reach Exchange mailboxes. Of course, our entire mail
infrastructure runs on top of virtualization technologies.

and computer accounts between Active Directories (Windows 2003 based to

Virtualization
- Mitrais is a heavy user of VMWare virtualization
- We were an early adopter of Microsoft Hyper-V product
- We have significant experience with P2V and V2V around Hyper-V
Technologies
Mitrais has performed P2V (physical-to-virtual) and V2V
(virtual-to-virtual) conversion of all its software development servers to
Hyper-V infrastructure. It manages them centrally using Microsoft System
Center Virtual Manager technologies.
In one case, we assisted a client to virtualize physical servers, move
them from Australia and host them in our data centre with the applications
intact. Client staff access the applications through Virtual Private
Networks and are guaranteed a minimum amount of our internet bandwidth by
our bandwidth management systems.

Mitrais infrastructure itself relies heavily on virtualization
technologies and our disaster recovery procedures are evolving around
Hyper-V virtualization for quick recovery in the event of disaster.
