Mitrais guides university students onto career path in ITMitrais recently played an active role in helping more than 80 students attending Sanata Dharma University, Yogyakarta, to determine their suitability for a career in IT.

The University invited Mitrais’ Director of HR & Corporate Affairs, Wiwie Harris and Senior Software Engineer Agung Budi Marsono to be key speakers at a Career Seminar day aimed at providing impending graduates with an overview of career opportunities and real world working conditions.

Ms. Harris said that Mitrais was invited to the seminar because of the prominent reputation it enjoys in the Indonesian IT industry.

Students were keen to ask how to compete for jobsOpening the seminar, Agung presented a general overview of daily activities in a software engineering environment, including tools, methodologies and the skills required. He also provided some tips and tricks to improve the skill of individuals when competing for IT-related jobs. This session answered many of the audience’s questions about the applicability of the university curriculum to real jobs.

Wiwie Harris then invited all students to complete a personality test to help determine the jobs they would be best suited to. She provided them with tips to get the job they dream of, participated in the interview role plays and answered questions and clarified concerns about the general selection process.

She also briefed the audience on the Mitrais company and recruitment processes including strategies to obtain jobs in a software company. A second session dealt with the recruitment process in detail.

Student feedback indicated that the seminar was very useful, helping them to fine tune how they would embark on a career in software development.
