Mobile solutions have come of age with the increasingly wide spread
adoption of high speed, low cost mobile networks and platforms. Mitrais
gained a MS Gold Partnership in 2006 based partially on our mobile
solutions. We continue to work with some of the world’s best known companies
developing mobile applications that leverage mobile technologies.
Mitrais was asked by a
provider of risk, incident and issues management solutions to extend the
accessibility of an existing application to mobile users. A major challenge
was how to exploit the limited size of the device screens.
The initiative was then to create from a PC application a simple, easy and
convenient web application. Mitrais developed the application for a PDA
sized browser while meeting key criteria including dividing pages into
usable but limited size portions, using existing tables and forms and
keeping the number of keystrokes to a minimum to optimise usability.
Mitrais developed a mobile survey application for a food processing company
to support its sales force throughout Indonesia. The mobile survey
application involves complicated business processing including route
planning, scheduling, interactive mobile data collection, data
consolidation, synchronization and reporting. Armed with Windows Mobile
based devices, the sales force visits retail outlets to gather market and
sales intelligence. The surveys are synchronized in real time to the
regional sales centre for the supervisor to generate periodic reports as
feedback to the sales team and also synchronized to the head office for
management reporting. The application can be highly customized as regards
the questions and also the reporting format, making the system flexible
enough to collect data for various market segments or whenever the company
launches new products.
To provide a rich user experience in the desktop application, Mitrais
integrated NetAdvantage software from Infragistics, the market leader in the
presentation layer components industry for more than a decade. NetAdvantage
provides the most comprehensive set of components for quickly building and
styling commercial class user interfaces for Windows Forms, ASP.NET, JSF and
WPF applications. These components are flexible enough to be customized and
extended to meet user requirements. The best feature of NetAdvantage is that
Infragistics has its own application styling framework. It is a stand-alone
function that allows the creation of themes for an application. Themes are
read during run-time so users don’t need to re-compile if they want to
change the theme of their application.
“Mobile” was developed for PT. Philip Morris Indonesia to record the
movement of finished products from its factories to distribution warehouses,
with emphasis on working in offline areas. Each Windows device has a barcode
scanner and a facility to automatically synchronize data to the server when
they are reconnected to the network.
Mitrais
has extended the capability of our in-house developed medical system to
enable the physician to review a patient’s condition through a mobile
device. The system is running on a Windows device and connected through the
core application of the medical system using Microsoft .NET Web Service.
A common scenario, the system will be deployed to hospitals with a WIFI
network. The medical system extension on Windows devices was developed using
Microsoft .NET technology.
This was developed as a Windows Mobile application for employee
identification at PT. Freeport Indonesia. Complete with barcode scanner,
data synchronization with the server (including a photo) and a policy that
each employee has a Barcode-ID Card, the device becomes a powerful tool for
allowing access to certain areas of mine sites.
This was developed as a PocketPC application for outdoor data logging for
Mine Serve International, a PT. Freeport affiliate company. Complete with
data validation and data synchronisation with the server, the PocketPC
becomes a good data logging tool. It reduces the possibility of logging
wrong data and the paperwork required.
