Java

Java is an extremely flexible application development language. With its ‘compile-once, run anywhere’ functionality, it is a natural choice for multiple operating system environments.

Look at the information systems environments where Java is readily accepted and you will typically see an enterprise-wide focus, more often than not related to mission critical and capital intensive applications.

Given Mitrais’ origins in the mining industry, it was not surprising that its first major software development project nearly a decade ago, was Java-based.

This project reinforced our philosophy that to effectively provide software development services we had to identify the next big technology trend and have appropriate skills on hand to service fast growing market demand.

Mitrais boasts a business perspective on emerging technology – not simply a tools view. So, even in its infancy, we saw Java’s potential. Because of its potency Java matured fast as a language. Responding to technological evolution and business demands it has given birth to a range of offspring including Java 1.0, J2SE 1.2, applets, Java 2, J2EE, J2ME, J2SE, J2 Java EE, Java ME, Java SE, JRE, JDK, servlets, Enterprise JavaBeans, Embedded Java, and even GlassFish.

We have ensured the Java competency of our staff through rigorous, ongoing skills-based training.

Enterprises which outsource software development projects to meet the needs of large-scale, capital intensive industries turn to Mitrais to access a comprehensive Java skills set which has been applied to a range of major projects.

Java provides the right response for Enterprise Analytics

Oniqua Enterprise Analytics, a leader of business intelligence software for capital intensive industries, engaged Mitrais to write a stand-alone module for RFQ (Request for Quotation) and bidding management. This module is distributed free by buying organizations to potential vendors to allow them to respond to RFQ's.

The application was developed in Java 2 Standard Edition by a Mitrais software engineering team using the Rational Unified Process methodology. It proved to be as effective for a light and rapid project as it is for larger projects. Rational Rose was used as the development tool. J2EE module a critical link to Ellipse

An Inspection/AIS Module which works with Mincom’s Ellipse system highlights the type of Java project which Mitrais has undertaken for the global ERP vendor. The module was developed using the J2EE based Mincom JAP Framework and JSP with Mincom custom-defined tags library.

The Inspection and Defects module delivers a simple, effective and totally integrated solution for undertaking both structured and unstructured inspections.

The AIS functionality provides the ability to collect and modify equipment related details plus collect other physical attributes normally associated with geographical information systems (GIS). The module receives work order task information and related equipments structures from Ellipse.

A powerful training function enhanced with Java

When Australian utility companies ENERGEX and Ergon Energy, prominent customers of Mincom, wanted the ERP vendor to provide major enhancements to the training functionality provided by Ellipse, Mincom turned to Mitrais. More than 1000 man-days were invested in developing a Java web-based front end and a back-end in COBOL.

A Java platform for a healthier clinic

JavaIn developing and launching its own Medical Information System Mitrais placed its faith in a Java Platform Enterprise Edition (JavaEE). One of the first implementations of this system was in the Klinik Kardiovaskular (Cardiovascular Clinic) at the Hospital Cinere in Jakarta, Indonesia. Linked to MYOB Enterprise V3 it ensures seamless integration between the clinical and financial operations of the clinic.
